New Talent Entertains at Hotel Laguna
Musician Fiz walked into the lobby of the Hotel Laguna and helped himself to the grand piano, despite the ‘do not play’ sign.
Rather than getting kicked out, the hotel’s operators fell in love with both his positivity and his chops, and asked him to stay.
Fiz now plays at the Oceanview Bar & Grill at Hotel Laguna every Friday and Saturday from 8 to 11 p.m. throughout 2011.
Czech Oscar Candidate Premiers in Laguna
The Laguna Beach Film Society will air the Czech Oscar contender and thriller “Protektor” at the South Coast Cinema on Thursday, Nov.17, at 7 p.m.
This drama traces the changes that occur between a beautiful Jewish actress and a radio reporter compromising with the Nazis to protect her as Prague is taken over by the German occupiers.
Tickets are $15 at the door, $10 for students with IDs. For those who enjoy fine food and art, $20 includes a prefilm reception at the Laguna Art Museum at 6 p.m.
Montage Lifts a Glass to Italy
Montage’s Loft restaurant is hosting a winemakers dinner featuring Lombardy region vintner Ca’ del Bosco on Thursday, Nov. 17, for 40 guests and will feature a tasting menu by Chef de Cuisine, Casey Overton, with paired wines.
The six-course dinner begins at 6 p.m. and costs $145 per person.
