Breakers ranked No. 8 and opened the 32-team playoffs this past Monday at Huntington Beach with a sweep of Newport Harbor 3-0. Cameron Dorn /Katelyn Carballo won 21-16, 21-18, # 2 squad Kendyl Brennan / Lexi McKeown won 21-16, 21-12 and the No. squad Olivia Hockaday/Lauren LaMontagne also swept their Newport opponents 21-9, 21-13. Breakers advanced to the second round on Friday, May 15 with Santa Margarita in a match to be played at the Annenberg Beach House in Santa Monica. If the Breakers prevailed they would face either Mira Costa or Notre Dame Academy on Saturday morning, same courts

Last Saturday the league held the pairs individual tournament at Dockweiler State Beach featuring the league’s top teams. Laguna pairs Katelyn Carballo and Cammie Dorn won their pool over teams from Arroyo Grande, Valencia, and Oaks Christian to advance to the playoffs where they defeated the squads from Saddleback Valley Christian (21-14) and Redondo Union (21-15) before losing in the finals 21-19 to Mira Costa’s # 1 team Skyler Caputo and Katrina Kernochan.
