Yeah, I’ll vote “no” on the medical marijuana dispensary proposition
when all the liquor stores and retail outlets that sell alcohol in the
city are closed down.
If you are that worried about the degradation of our community by
“mind altering substances” you might start with the demon rum. It has
a checkered history, to say the least. Broken families, wrecked lives and often tragedy, death and sorrow on our highways.
I’m assuming all the opponents of the dispensaries are teetotalers. We wouldn’t want to be hypocrites now, would we?

This is a good argument that prohibition raised the same problems as not allowing marijuana to be sold publicly.
Although that is where the comparison ends.
There are some similarities between the two, but because of generational opinions and scientific data the argument holds no significant meaning other than redundancy of their inherent nature and can be used as an argument against legalization as well as for.
