Editor,
About the new, first-time candidate for City Council, Judie Mancuso, Laguna Beach Independent (Aug. 5) says “she’ll give the city back to the citizens.”
This declaration is in response to the Indy’s list of “contentious issues rising among residents regarding short-term rentals, medical marijuana dispensaries and a burgeoning number of beachgoers.”
The first two problems are curable. The third, burgeoning number of beachgoers, has the reek of Trumpism.
Is reference being made to countless out-of-towners (“immigrants”) or to the 25,000 residents of Laguna? The beach belongs to the first one to establish a towel-size space of sand, no matter from where that individual has come. The same is true of the traffic, pedestrian or auto, in this town.
Laguna cannot be a walled-in city.
Better Judie Mancuso focuses on how best to share our space than “take it back,” an impossible and foolish notion for too many obvious reasons than warrant noting.

That was not my quote. My comments have been we need to accommodate residents and tourist.
