Laguna Welcomes Hometown Medalist

The city will honor Olympic gold medalist Annika Dries on Saturday, Sept. 1, at the community pool from 2 to 4 p.m. Admission to the pool at 670 Park Ave. will be free and residents are encouraged to bring their suit and towel.  Mayor Jane Egly will present Dries with a City Council proclamation honoring her achievements.

Dries plays center on USA’s women’s water polo team. As a youngster, Annika participated in the city’s water polo team and went on to star at Laguna Beach High School and Stanford University, where she led Stanford to the 2011 NCAA national championship.
