New Police Vehicle Zips Around Town

An electric golf cart is the newest addition to the police department vehicle fleet.

The downtown foot patrol officer is now able to move about and respond to calls for service more quickly. Also, the small quiet electric car creates less of an impact on traffic when the officer initiates or is dispatched to some activity.

  Hackers Tee Up for Kids

The 14th Annual Bob Margolis Memorial Golf Tournament takes place Monday, July 14, to benefit the Bluebird branch of the Boys & Girls Club at the Aliso Viejo Country Club. The $125 tickets include the “scramble format” golf tournament, silent auction, helicopter ball-drop raffle and dinner. Dinner only tickets are $35.

Club Honors Saffer

The Woman’s Club of Laguna Beach hosted “Soup with Stu,” a toast and roast of news blogger Stu Saffer, on Friday June 20.

Among the roasters were elected officials and a contributor to his online news blog, Stu News Laguna, who recounted Saffer’s start in town. Emcee was co-owner Shaena Stabler.

Saffer received a plaque from the Chamber of Commerce, a 2004 Boston Red Sox World Series Championship shirt from Mayor Tem Bob Whalen’s personal collection, and the first male membership to the Woman’s Club.

Each table had a donation ball cap for contributions to Laguna Beach Little League, where Saffer was a manager, board member and umpire. More than $1,000 was collected.
