Griffith, a senior and AP scholar at Dana Hills High School, designed and built three benches for his church, Laguna Beach’s Neighborhood Congregational Church. “I wanted the benches to reflect the community, one uses skim boards for the back of the bench to recognize the surf culture, another has a sunburst to show the beautiful sunsets we have in Laguna,” said Griffith.

He and his team of youth and adults put in over 250 volunteer hours designing and building the benches.

The Cub Scout’s Blue and Gold banquet at Laguna Presbyterian Church last week marked the birth of scouting in 1911 and honored Pack 35’s most senior Webelos II Den, which received one of scouting’s top awards, the Arrow of Light.

The ceremony included a Native America-themed dance.

The Webelos II who moved up to Boy Scouts included Finnegan Butler, Jared Moy, Thomas Deboer, Austin Plank, Sam Eidt, Brandon Thede, Jared Hammett, Duke Wollman and Joseph Hovanesian.

Pack Leader Dr. John Hovanesian passed the leadership duties to Taylor Greene. Hovanesian remains the commissioner of the Orange County Chapter of the Boy Scouts of America.
