Defrauding innkeeper. 30800 block of Coast Hwy. 7:11 p.m. Erik Jon Edelman, 37, of Florida was arrested for suspicion of defrauding an innkeeper after two of his credit cards were declined and he attempted to leave the property. The log said he was in the company of three other men trying to make their exit in a black Mercedes.
Tuesday, Jan. 7
Vandalism. 600 block of Park Ave. 8:57 a.m. Someone shot BBs through a classroom window, shattering a $300 pane.
Vehicle burglary. 11:34 a.m. 500 block of S. Coast Hwy. Thieves who broke into a locked vehicle Jan. 4 took an iPad, purse, tennis shoes, Oakley sunglasses and a coat.
Fraud report. 1200 block N. Coast Hwy. 11:54 a.m. A customer wrote a check for $345 and later canceled it, but sent another ,which was also bad.
Detective activity. 2:20 p.m. PD. Kevin Michael Corey, 18, of Corona del Mar, was arrested for suspicion of burglary, grand theft and conspiracy for making purchases with fraudulent credit cards. He was identified as a suspect through a call to a phone purchased with the unauthorized cards, said Sgt. Louise Callus, who said the investigation began last month when a victim learned new lines of credit had been established in their name without their knowledge. Bail was set at $20,000.
Rape. 5:06 p.m. 31100 block of Coast Hwy. An 18-year-old South County woman reported meeting a man on Jan. 2 and a situation that was more than she expected or consented too.
Assault. 1100 block S. Coast Hwy. 6:55 p.m. A victim said her employer pushed her two months ago.
Tuesday, Jan. 8
Drug activity. 500 Blumont St. 11:25 a.m. Two young women who were not local students were discovered smoking pot behind the school district office. Their vehicle had left the area before police arrived.
Indecent exposure. 200 block of Bluebird Canyon Dr. 3:53 p.m. A man who had been harassing a park-goer verbally underscored the taunt by exposing his backside and dropped his drawers.
Petty theft. 300 block of S. Coast Hwy. 4:12 p.m. A $300 women’s dress was stolen.
Petty theft. 31000 block of Coast Hwy. 12:20 p.m. A wallet and navigation system were taken from an unlocked vehicle.
Burglary. 1000 block of Skyline Dr. 12:46 p.m. A housekeeper says a house was ransacked while the residents were away.
Rape. 4:23 p.m. ER. An adult woman reported that she may have been drugged and sexually assaulted while she was unconscious.
Thursday, Jan. 10
Detective activity. 10:15 a.m. 1800 block of Pullman St. Costa Mesa. Joseph Bruno, 46, of Corona del Mar, was arrested for suspicion of grand theft auto by a detective on a county stolen vehicle task force, said Callus, adding that further details were not yet available. Bail was set at $15,000.
Vandalism. 1800 block Laguna Canyon Rd. 2:09 p.m. An ex-employee returned to a business and cut cables and internet cords.
Vandalism. 30800 block of Coast Hwy. 2:29 p.m. Vandalism to a vehicle in the underground lot.
Vehicle vs. bicyclist. 600 block S. Coast Hwy. 4:28 p.m. A bicyclist’s right finger was injured by a passing truck, which continued south. Officers were unable to locate the truck and its driver, who may be unaware of the collision.
Burglary. 7 p.m. 600 block Cuprien Way. Sometime in the two previous days thieves broke in and stole a small safe.
Mentally ill. 600 block of Bolsana Dr. 7:55 p.m. A man, who earlier in the day had been treated at the hospital, is outside naked, claiming he is god.
Traffic stop. 200 block Cleo St. 11:37 p.m Martin Ornelas, 24, of Orange, allegedly provided police his brother’s name because he was driving on a suspended license and was arrested for impersonating another. Bail was set at $20,000.
Friday, Jan. 11
Attempted burglary. 1200 block N. Coast Hwy. 11:12 a.m. A rental car taken by the renter’s boyfriend without permission was later recovered at a Dana Point hotel.
Fraud. 2000 block of S. Coast Hwy. 1:55 p.m. A second phone line was added to a resident’s account without his knowledge, tallying a $360 loss.
Trespassing. 1800 block of Laguna Canyon Rd. 4:25 p.m. Jeffrey Daniel Yniguez, 29, of San Juan Capistrano was arrested for suspicion of DUI and possessing a Vicodin without a prescription. Bail was set at $20,000.
Pedestrian stop. 7:33 p.m. Calliope St. Michael Paul Lunceford, 36, of Laguna Hills, was arrested for suspicion of possessing a plastic baggie with 1.15 grams of methamphetamine. Bail was set at $20,000.
Burglary. 11:59 p.m. 1000 block of Skyline Dr. Guests found a downstairs bedroom sliding door open and jewelry taken.
Saturday, Jan. 12
Vehicle violation. 2:25 a.m. Laguna Canyon Rd. A 32-year-old Lakewood man reported driving at a high rate of speed was arrested for suspicion of DUI and open containers in his vehicle.
Traffic stop. Third St. 3:43 p.m. A 20-year-old Irvine man was arrested for DUI and held for $2500 bail.
Drunk driving. El Toro Rd. 7 a.m. 200 block of Broadway St. A 49-year-old Aliso Viejo parent was arrested for suspicion of DUI and child endangerment, stopped en route to driving his 14-year-old to meet a surfing buddy. Bail was set at $100,000.
Sunday, Jan. 13
Traffic stop. S. Coast Hwy. 1:57 a.m. A 39-year-old Laguna Niguel man was cited for DUI and held for $2500 bail.
Pedestrian. 2:16 a.m. A 46-year-old man on a bicycle was cited for DUI and released. His bike was locked up at a hotel.
Vandalism. 600 block of Hillcrest Dr. 7:09 a.m. The mirror was shattered in the women’s restroom, a second recent act of vandalism.
Grand theft. 31500 Summit Dr. 8:58 a.m. Two vehicles were rifled through overnight and about $100 in $1 bills was stolen.
Petty theft. 200 block of Forest Ave. 3:38 p.m. A linen tunic priced at $158 and still on a hanger was stuffed in a shoplifter’s purse.
Grand theft. 31500 Eagle Rock Way. 3:47 p.m. An iPad, money, cell phone, and a bike cumulatively valued at $2,000 was taken from an unlocked vehicle sometime overnight.
