Hockey Player’s Tavern Also Scores
Selanne Steak Tavern in Laguna Beach received two of 26 awards at the third annual Golden Foodie Awards, held in Newport Beach.
About 300 people attended the awards to honor the best local independent and chef-driven restaurants.
Teemu Selanne, the highest scoring Finn in NHL history when he retired this year, opened Selanne Steak Tavern with co-owner Kevin Pratt last November.
The restaurant won for “best new restaurant,” determined by votes from local chefs and restaurateurs, and the people’s vote for “best steak” restaurant.
In addition, Selanne Steak Tavern’s pastry chef Heather Fisher was one of three to be nominated under the “best pastry chef” category.
