Laguna took care of business last Friday, Nov. 3, at Orange Coast College by matching host Calvary Chapel/Santa Ana with big plays of their own to secure second place in their final Orange Coast League race and return to the playoffs for the second straight year and 18th overall in the program’s 83 seasons of varsity football.

Calvary took the initial lead on a 49-yard pass play at the 9:25 mark in the initial period. Laguna made the scoreboard on a Noah Handel 26-yard field goal, his fifth of the season as the period ended. Breakers took the lead on a 13-yard run by Curtis Harrison and added another score before halftime when Adam Armstrong blocked a Calvary punt, allowing Victor Castillo to scoop up the ball for the return and score.

The Eagles cut the lead to 17-14 at 9:42 in the third period with a big 50-yard TD pass. A few seconds later, Adam Armstrong deflated the hosts by taking the kickoff 85 yards to give Laguna a 24-14 lead,.
