Forest Avenue Closure Will Add to Congestion

Editor,

I concur with Michael McFadden, owner of Rock Martin Custom Jewelry, on the issue of closing Forest Avenue (Letters, May 15 edition).

The idea is ludicrous from the standpoint of traffic movement.  On any sunny weekend, traffic trying to move from Glenneyre through Forest to get to Ocean or Broadway is a long process. It requires junior traffic control people to keep things moving through that downtown sector.

Take this path out of the already over-congested downtown and you close off a major vehicular path from one side of downtown to the other.  It’s a terrible idea for traffic movement.  And then there is the loss of parking on Forest Avenue to consider.

The Council should absolutely set aside this poor decision.
